Parking is the hard part
White bays are mostly free, yellow never. Valletta charges by the hour on weekday mornings.
Gozo is covered
Take the car on the ferry. Your cover comes too, and the crossing is €15.70 return.

New in 2026. Visitors can be fined at the roadside, payable by card there and then.

All questionsWhat is the deposit for?
We hold it on your card when you collect the car and release it when the car comes back as agreed. It is €1,800 to €4,000 depending on the car, and €300 with Zero Excess. It is a hold, not a payment. Your bank then takes up to seven working days to show the money again.
Can I use a debit card?
Yes, for the €300 deposit with Zero Excess, as long as it is a physical Visa or Mastercard in the main driver's name. Without Zero Excess, bring a credit card in the main driver's name.
What does the price leave out?
Fuel, parking, the ferry and any traffic fines. Cover does not apply to driving under the influence, an unnamed driver, off-road use, the wrong fuel, or deliberate or reckless damage.
What do I need to bring?
A full licence held for two years, your passport or ID card, and the card for the deposit. Drivers must be 21 to 75. Under 25, add €7 a day.
What if my flight is late?
Give us your flight number when you book and we track it. We are in the arrivals hall until 02:00 every day. Landing later? Tell us when you book.
